This ring is for the intermediate/advance student. The saddle ring is a ring in which the wide top tapers to a thinner ring bottom. In this class you are going to learn to hammer-set a bezel and then use a graver to finish the top. A graver is a little chisel that will take a rough edge to a nice smooth edge. The ring of metal (silver) around the stone in a bezel setting means it is very well protected from potential damage. ... A bezel is very secure, probably the most secure of all setting types, in fact. Because the bezel is usually above the girdle of the stone, the stone is firmly held in place all the time. As artisanal jewelers, we usually ignore the bezels and just say it is handmade. Master Dan is a believer in this, as it can add a handmade look but we should do it on purpose as a choice and not because we can’t do it better. If you are looking to take your bezels to the next level then this is the class for you. Pre-requisite: Any Jewelry making 3 in 1 and soldering experience. Class size minimum is 2 and maximum is 3. If the class minimum has not been met, class might be rescheduled.
We understand that things come up. If you are not able to make a scheduled class, please call us as soon as possible at 916-350-0546 and we can reschedule your class. No refunds allowed.
