Service Description

In this class you will learn the basics of crafting wire into jewelry components with the added bonus of an introduction to UV resin. Artisan Tawny Arnds will lead you through the steps and open your world to a realm of endless possibilities! UV resin jewelry refers to jewelry pieces that are made using a type of resin known as ultraviolet (UV) resin. UV resin is a liquid polymer that hardens or cures when exposed to ultraviolet light. This type of resin has gained popularity in the crafting and jewelry-making communities because of its ease of use, relatively quick curing time, and ability to create clear, glossy, and durable finished products. To create UV resin jewelry, artisans typically follow these steps: Preparation: Choose a mold or a bezel that will serve as the base for your jewelry piece. Adding Decorations: You can add various decorative elements to the mold before pouring in the resin. Pouring Resin: Carefully pour the UV resin into the mold or bezel, making sure not to overfill. Positioning and Removing Air Bubbles: Use a toothpick or other small tool to position the decorations and remove any trapped air bubbles by gently stirring or tapping the mold. Curing: Once the piece is ready, it needs to be cured. UV resin requires exposure to ultraviolet light to harden. Finishing Touches: After the resin has cured, the jewelry piece can be removed from the mold and any excess resin can be trimmed or sanded. Assembling Jewelry: If your piece is meant to be worn as jewelry, you can attach findings such as earring hooks, necklace chains, or jump rings to complete the piece. UV resin jewelry allows for a wide range of creativity and customization. Crafters and jewelry makers can experiment with different molds, colors, inclusions, and techniques to create unique and personalized pieces. We will follow safety guidelines when working with UV resin, such as wearing gloves and protective eyewear. 3 minimum, 6 maximum. No experience necessary!
