Specialty Class

Service Description

The term "wax back set" could also imply that the cabochon setting and the pendant's back design are intricately planned and executed during the wax modeling stage, ensuring aesthetics and functionality. In this class, you will create a decorative pendant out of wax using wax carving. The cabochon will be put in by the back to make it truly unique. You will also make the decorations and the foundation of the pendant. You will work as far as you can and then continue to finish your pendant at home or in an open lab. We will teach you; Lost Wax Casting: The wax model is used in lost wax casting, a process in which the wax model is encased in a mold material. Once the mold hardens, the wax is melted and drained away, leaving a cavity in the shape of the pendant. Casting: Molten metal is poured into the cavity, creating a metal version of the original wax model. Setting the cabochon: After casting, the cabochon is placed into the metal pendant from the back. The wax model's design would have included the setting for the gemstone, ensuring a precise fit. The minimum for this class is 2, and the maximum is 6. If the minimum is not met, the class might be canceled.
